Our Pastor
Dr. Darren White, Th.D
Pastor Darren White was born in the small town of Wedowee, Alabama. He was raised in a home that believed in hard work, moral absolutes, and the importance of Christian values. But even with all these influences in his life, it was not until the age of 21 that he came to know Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour. Soon after his salvation in 1988, he was baptized at El-Bethel Baptist Church in Roanoke, Al.
Brother White met his wife Tonia at a small country church in West Point, Georgia. They married in 1994 and moved to Opelika, Alabama. While teaching Sunday school in his home church for several years, God revealed His call and Darren surrendered to preach the gospel in May of 1998.
He enrolled at Temple Baptist Bible College in Valley, Al. under the leadership of pastor Raymond Sorrells at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Darren served as assistant to the pastor while working a full time job, continuing his education, and raising his family. During these years God blessed his home with three wonderful children, Carter, Benjamin and Morgan.
Six years after coming to Emmanuel Baptist, God opened the door to pastor. Darren also continued his education by working on a doctoral degree. He graduated with a Doctorate of Theology in June of 2006. Pastor White has a love for the Lord and a great desire to see people saved and serving in the local church.
